No Kings Protest/Rally

No Kings is TOMORROW and we are hoping it will be the largest mass protest in our country’s history.
​
Our rights were never given — they were won. From the ballot box to the picket line, generations of Americans have fought to secure fundamental freedom and dignity for all of us. Now President Trump is trying to rule like a dictator, and we the people are going to make sure the world knows that America belongs to us.
​
TOMORROW, Saturday, October 18th, we gather at Courthouse Square in Newnan at 10:00 AM for #NoKings, Newnan. Invite friends or family to come with you—it’s not too late!
We encourage you to participate: bring a sign, water, and your energy. Together we’ll send a joyful, powerful message: No Thrones. No Crowns. No Kings.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action and NO civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at No Kings, Newnan. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should NOT be brought to this event. Because we are holding our rally on public property, please be mindful and respectful of other people who are shopping or enjoying our beautiful downtown. Don’t block sidewalks, roadways, or the entrances to businesses. Don’t litter and at the end of the rally please dispose of any trash in the proper receptacles.

Wear comfortable clothing: We want your BOOTS ON THE GROUND, so please wear your favorite boots to the event. Also, the No Kings organization is asking participants to wear yellow to all of the events! People around the world have used color to show collective strength in the face of oppression throughout history. Our movement is no different: We align ourselves with this historic context while taking a step into our shared future. **Think of it as a shared symbol. It does not need to be an entire outfit (but it could be). A bandana, a hat, a shirt -- any bright pop of yellow will work perfectly. Be aware: Speaker Johnson has described this No Kings rally as thehate-America” rally that would draw “the pro-Hamas wing” and “the antifa people.” Let’s show Newnan and Coweta County that we love America and want to express our determination that our nation’s ideals will not be crushed by the Trump regime. In light of this, consider wearing red, white and blue. Carry and wave an American flag; make signs that reflect your love for the USA. Let’s show our community that we love our country.

Raise your voice peacefully & follow directions. Bring a sign, lead some chants, and connect with our neighbors and community. Remember that all events are peaceful and non-violent, so we look to de-escalate any situations that arise. Follow the directions of our safety leader and her safety marshal team. A safety brief will be given at the start of our rally and the marshals are easily identifiable and will be wearing bright yellow reflective vests.

Know your rights: Understand the legal aspects of protesting and your rights as a protestor. Please review NoKings.org/kyr. The site currently holds comprehensive recommendations from the No Kings Coalition of how to protect yourself before, during, and after a protest and in cases of contact with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Restrooms: There are no public restrooms on the square. The nearest public restrooms are located about 2 blocks away at Greenville Street Park.

Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth: Keep your hands clean to prevent the spread of illness. ​

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water, especially if it turns hot on Saturday.

Protect Privacy: Turn off electronic devices you're not using and be mindful of press interactions. Turn off face or fingerprint access to electronic devices for the duration of the event
