Voter Registration
In order to vote in Georgia, you must be registered where you live. If you’ve moved to a new address in Georgia since the last time you voted, you need to update your registration, especially if you’ve moved to a different county.

Registering to vote is easy and free. You simply complete a registration form and show proof of who you are and where you live.
There are three ways to register. Pick the way that is easiest for you.
To register online, you must have a Georgia state driver’s license or another state ID card issued by Georgia’s Department of Driver Services (DDS) with your signature on file. If you do not have a DDS-issued ID, you can register by mail or in-person instead.

Registered in Georgia but need to update your registration? Log into MVP to make changes online – we have instructions in the Check Your Registration section.

Check online in a couple of weeks to ensure your registration has been processed – you can follow the instructions in Check Your Registration or call or text the Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816.
This option may require access to a printer – if you don’t have a printer, ask a friend or neighbor if they can help or try your local library.

Register to vote by mail by taking the following easy steps:

-
Get a registration application by printing one, going to the Coweta County Elections and Voter Registration Office, or getting an application at a Post Office or public library.
-
Complete and sign the application and mail it to the Coweta County Voter Registration Office, 87 Newnan Station Drive, Suite 400, Newnan, GA 30265. Don’t forget postage!
-
If you are registering to vote in GA for the first time: Include a copy of your photo ID and proof of residence, like a utility bill or a copy of your lease. (If you don’t have a copy hand, bring one with you the first time you go to vote.)
-
Check online in a couple of weeks to make sure the submission worked. To do that follow the instructions in Check Your Registration or call or text the Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816.
You can register in-person at the Coweta County Elections and Voter Registration Office or when you apply for or renew your Georgia driver’s license.

Coweta County's election office is at:
-
87 Newnan Station Drive, Suite 400, Newnan, GA 30265
-
Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Go to the office and tell them you want to register to vote. They will lead you through what you need to do.
You can also register to vote when you renew your driver’s license or change information on your license by going to the driver’s license bureau. Unless you opt out, the information you provide for your driver’s license will be used to initiate or update your voter registration.

Check Your Registration
In order to vote, you must be registered where you live. Check to make sure that your registration is accurate and up to date!

On a web browser or mobile device, visit Georgia’s MVP website. Input your name, county, and date of birth. When MVP loads, confirm your registration is up to date and accurate!

If your information is inaccurate or out of date, you’ll need to update it. (If it’s after a particular registration deadline and you’ve discovered an issue with your registration, you can call the Coweta County Elections and Voter Registration Office to find out whether and where you can vote.)

If you have a Georgia state driver’s license or voter ID, you can make changes directly in MVP:

-
In the box titled “Personal Information,” scroll down and click the “Update Voter Information” button.
-
On the next page, click “Edit” in the top right corner of the box titled “Personal Information.” Correct the information you need to.
-
Scroll down to the “For Verification” section and enter your Georgia driver’s license number or voter ID number and enter your date of birth. Click “Continue.”
-
On the final “Submit” page, verify that all of the information listed is true and accurate. If everything is correct, click “Submit.”

If you don’t have an ID issued by Georgia DDS, you’ll need to re-register by mail or in person – follow the instructions in Voter Registration (above) or call or text the Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816 for personalized suggestions.
